PLAN YOUR SKI ADVENTURE
Booking a ski trip involves a range of reliable resources to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience. I have listed below our favorite companies we use when we plan our ski holiday.
Ski World– They have been taking customers to the best ski resorts in Europe, the US and Canada for more than 36 years.
Skyscanner– it’s our go to for finding the best flights, we usually start here and usually finish here. They price check over 1,200 sites to help you find the best prices.
Booking.com– for accommodation, we rely on Booking.com for its extensive options and user reviews. We find they have the cheapest rates and offer payment options. In addition, VRBO is another terrific website for all types of accommodations.
Train Travel– to European ski resorts is convenient and scenic, popular trips include Glacier express to Zermatt, the Eurostar from London to the French Alps. We find Omio or Trainline are the best sites for booking trains in Europe.
Car Hire – we usually hire a car it offers us flexibility and convenience, allowing easy access to most resorts. Companies like Discover Cars or Rentalcars.com provide reliable options with winter equipment.
Travel insurance– Don’t ski without it. If you get hurt on the mountain it could cost, you a small fortune if you’re not insured. We use SAFETYWING when my wife broke her ankle a few years ago in Wengen they were terrific.
Ski Equipment. – Bring your own ski gear, its usually cheaper and much better than renting, it ensures you have a perfect fit. Owning also saves time and money in the long run. Equipment like Skis, Pants and Jackets, Gloves, Ski-helmets and Thermal underwear” can all be bought online. You can purchase everything you need from Berg’s Ski and Snowboard (USA) or Snow and Rock (UK).
ARC’TERYX – is a go to reliable brand for outdoor adventure and travel, their wide range includes light weight durable, easy to clean travel gear.

Village
Each village in Les Arcs offers something different.
Arc1600
Known as the “Original Arc,” this village has a quieter, family-friendly atmosphere. Its easily accessible via the funicular from Bourg-Saint-Maurice and offers direct access to the slopes.
Arc 1800
The largest and liveliest of the villages, Arc1800 is the hub for the nightlife, shopping, and entertainment. It’s popular with younger crowds and groups seeking a vibrant ski holiday.
Arc 1950
This charming, pedestrian-only village combines luxury and tradition. Its high altitude ensures excellent snow conditions, and ski-in/ski-out accommodations add to its charm.
Arc 2000
The highest village, Arc 2000, is perfect for serious skiers and snowboarders looking for challenging slopes. Its modern accommodations are ideal for seeking more time on the mountain.
FUNICULAR TO LES ARCS 1600
Bourg-Saint-Maurice Located at the base of the mountain, this traditional town serves as the gateway to Les Arcs. Offering cheaper accommodations and direct access to the ski area via the Funicular.
Expert Challenges: Thrill-seekers can tackle the famous Aiguille Rogue descent, a 7-kilometer black run with stunning views. Off-Piste Adventures: Les Arcs is famous for its powder fields and off- piste routes, particularly around Arc 2000.
Snow parks: The Apocalypse Snow park in Arc 1800 is a favourite for freestyle skiers, offering jumps, rails, and boardercross courses.

Ski Area and Ski Passes
Paradiski Area Les Arcs is pear of the Paradiski ski domain, one of the largest interconnected ski areas in the world.
* Total Ski Area: 425 Kilometres (shared with La Plagne).

Wear a SKI-HELMET, especially if you’re a beginner or in the snow parks and remember to pack your SKI-GOGGLES.
I always carry a DAY BACKPACK when skiing, as well as a WATER BOTTLE. It keeps me hydrated all day long on the slopes.

HOW TO GET TO LES ARCS
BY PLANE
Chambery Airport: The closest airport, around 2 hours away.
Geneva Airport: A popular choice, with a transfer time of about 2.5 hours
Lyon-Saint Exupery Airport: Approximately 3 hours by road.

BY TRAIN: The nearest train station is Bourg-Saint-Maurice, served by high-speed TGV, Eurostar, and Thayls. From Bourg-Saint-Maurice, a Funicular railway connects directly to Arc 1600 in just 7 minutes.

BY CAR: Les Arcs is accessible via the A43 and N90 motorways.
Parking: Paid and free parking options are available in all villages, with shuttle buses connecting parking areas to ski lifts.

SKI LIFT
Getting to France’s best ski resorts couldn’t be easier than with Ski-lifts, offering both airport and train station transfers. Private transfers are a popular choice, as you will not be sharing with others or waiting at the airport, as your driver will be waiting for you.
By Bus:
- Regular bus services operate from Bourg-Saint-Maurice to all Les Arcs villages.
- Companies like SKI LIFTS provide transfers from major airports.
